Rescue Squad.
The Dix Hills Fire Department Rescue Squad, commonly referred to as Dix Hills Rescue, is an entity within the fire department that responds to both fire and medical emergencies, 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Dix Hills Rescue answers over 1,700 combined calls a year on averaging more than 4 per day. The “Squad” utilizes four Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances, housed at 3 fire stations, as well as a First Responder vehicle to handle all types of emergencies prior to the ambulance’s arrival. The Squad has more than 50 members, of which some are rescue only while some are firefighter/rescue members.
